Transactions could be described as events. They represent various actions that affect the
condition of People, Items and Assemblies. Transactions may record information about sales, services and
different types of labor.
Transactions list
Date
The date and time the Transaction was created.
Type
Indicates the Transaction Type that determines the
Transactions behavior and effects.
From
The name of the Person that fills the Transaction's
From Person role. This is the Person selling the Item, providing the service or performing the labor associated
with the Transaction. This is also the person from whose ownership an Item is removed when the Transaction is of
a Transaction Type that transfers inventory.
From Amt
The total cost of the Transaction's Lines
calculated using the average unit cost of the Items to the From Person.
To
The name of the Person that fills the Transaction's
To Person role. This is the Person into whose ownership an Item is added when the Transaction is of a Transaction
Type that transfers inventory.
To Amt
The total cost to the To Person of the
Transaction's Lines and the Transaction's Shipping and Tax amounts.
Assembly
If any of the Transaction's Lines have been
associated with an Assembly, this will show the Assembly's Serial Number. If a single Transaction's Lines have
been associated with more than one Assembly, the Assembly to which the greatest unit quantity has been
associated will be displayed.
Transaction Lines
Description
Description of the Item.
Group
Transaction Lines can be grouped together for cost
calculations. When a Line is assigned to a Group, its To Unit Amt and To Ext Amt fields can no longer be
edited and instead are calculated from the Total Amt specified in the Groups list for all Lines in the Group.
Quantity
Indicates the number of individual Item units
involved in the Transaction.
From Unit Amt
The total amount invested by the From Person for
one unit of the Item on the Transaction Line. This includes both money spent and time invested. This value will
be displayed using the same unit type as the current Transaction. If the unit types of Transactions used for this
calculation are not the same as that of the current Transaction, they will be converted using the Hourly Rate of
the historic Transaction's From Person. For Transaction Lines assigned to Assemblies, ShopChart will show
a From Unit Amt that represents the From Person's investment in the specific Items on the Line. For Lines not
assigned to an Assembly, the From Unit Amt represents an all-time average unit amount of the Item in the From
Person's general inventory. If the value is a hyperlink, clicking it will show a list of the Transactions
that were used to generate this calculation.
From Ext Amt
The From Unit Amt multiplied by the Quantity.
To Unit Amt
The unit value of the Line for the Transaction's To
Person. When a Line is first added to a Transaction that uses monetary amounts, this field will be automatically
populated with the amount from the most recent Transaction of the same Transaction Type and where both the From
Person and To Person matched those of the current Transaction. If on that Transaction the same Item appears on
more than one Line, this will be the average unit amount of all of the Item's Lines. For Transactions that
use monetary amounts (as defined by their Transaction Type), this field can be edited to reflect the actual unit
amount for the Transaction. For Transactions that use time-based amounts, this field is not editable and is
instead calculated by dividing the To Ext Amt by the Quantity. If the Transaction Line is assigned to a
Line Group, this field will not be editable and instead will be calculated from the Group's Total Amt specified
in the Groups List. The Total Amt value is apportioned to each of the Group's Lines according to the relative
value of each Line's historic average unit amount. The historic average unit amount is an average of the unit
amounts of all other Transaction Lines for the same Item where the Transaction Type matches that of the current
Transaction. This calculation includes Transactions that have occurred both before and after the current
Transaction. For this reason, the distribution of the Group's Total Amt among its Lines will change to more
accurately reflect their true value as more Transactions are added to the system.
To Ext Amt
For Transactions that use monetary amounts, this
field is automatically calculated by multiplying the To Unit Amt by the Quantity. For Transactions that use
time-based amounts this field can be edited to reflect the actual total time invested in the Transaction Line as
a whole.
Assembly
Associates the Transaction Line with a particular
Assembly. This is used to track monetary and time investments in an Assembly. Also, for Transactions of a Type
with an Inventory Modifier of Installation, Salvage or Scrap, Items are added to and removed from the specified
Assembly.
Transaction costs
Shipping
A monetary amount representing the total shipping
costs associated with the Transaction. When nothing is selected in the Transactions list, this shows the total
shipping for all Transactions visible on the page.
Tax
A monetary amount representing the total tax
associated with the Transaction. When nothing is selected in the Transactions list, this shows the total tax for
all Transactions visible on the page.
Line Groups
Group
Line Group identification number.
Total Amt
The total monetary or time amount invested in all of
the Lines assigned to the Group.
Line attributes
From URL
A web address of a page with information about
the Line's source. This is normally the page from an online product catalog used to purchase the Item.
