Transaction Types

Every Transaction is classified by a Transaction Type which defines the way the Transaction affects ShopChart's various calculations. Transactions may represent many different types of events such as sales, services and labor. Each Transaction Type's settings control the way the different events interact with each other. It is not necessary for each Transaction Type to have a unique combination of settings. It can be helpful to have separate Transaction Types that are calculated the same way.

  • Description
    A unique description of the Transaction Type. This can be up to 255 characters long.
  • Inventory Modifier
    Indicates the various ways an Item may be physically moved as a result of a Transaction.
    • None
      The Transaction has no effect on its Items' physical locations. They neither change hands between the Transaction's To and From Persons nor are they added to or removed from an Assembly.
    • Transfer
      Ownership of the Items on the Transaction is switched from the From Person to the To Person. Items are not added to or removed from an Assembly.
    • Installation
      Items are added to the Assemblies indicated on their Transaction lines. Ownership of the Items does not change between the To and From Persons. If no Assemblies are indicated on the Transaction lines, there is no change to the Items' statuses.
    • Salvage
      Items are removed from the Assemblies indicated on their Transaction lines and placed in the inventory of the Transaction's To Person. Ownership of the items does not change between the To and From Persons. If no Assemblies are indicated on the Transaction lines, there is no change to the Items' statuses.
    • Scrap
      Items are removed from the Assemblies indicated on their Transaction lines and are considered to no longer exist. They are no longer owned by any Person.
  • Show Amount As
    The value of a Transaction and its lines can be considered as either a monetary amount or a time period.
