A scraper proved quite effective at cleaning the old glue, particularly inside the leg box.

A few balance pins had rusted. Although the keys rocked on the rail, they had to be pried off.
Dirt and metal filings had found their way under the loose pickup tape.
Each pickup was cleaned and new tape was applied.
